Frequently asked questions

What is Spam Blaster?

A local-first spam filter for your inbox. It runs on your own computer and removes spam from your Junk folder using deterministic rules you control. It works with New Outlook, classic Outlook for Windows, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird.

Which email apps and providers does it work with?

Mail apps: New Outlook (Windows, web, and Mac), classic Outlook for Windows, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird. Mailboxes: Microsoft 365, Gmail, and any IMAP mailbox (with an app password).

Is it free?

Spam Blaster is free for personal, individual use. Commercial and enterprise use will require a paid license, offered in a later release. See the license.

How does "Blast" work?

When you get a spam message, select it in your mail app and click Blast. Spam Blaster builds a rule from the sender (name and address domain) and any links in the message, and the local app removes matching messages from your Junk folder.

Is my email private?

Yes. Spam Blaster is local-first: it runs on your machine, filters your mail there, and sends nothing about your mail to us. There is no telemetry. Read the Privacy Policy.

Which platforms does it run on?

Windows and macOS. Linux is not supported yet.

How do I get started?

Download and install Spam Blaster, connect your mailbox, and add the Spam Blaster button to your mail app. Then click Blast on a spam message.

Do I need an account?

No. Spam Blaster works without a website account. Your rules and blocked messages stay on your machine.

It is not catching a spammer. What do I do?

Make sure Spam Blaster is running, then Blast the sender from your mail app. You can review your rules and blocked messages in the Spam Blaster dashboard.
